LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION Changing neighborhood offers new cross-branding opportunities The west side of Manhattan surrounding the convention center that was once a cultural and retail desert has been transformed into one of New York City’s most important new neighborhoods. The Javits Center, home to the New York Auto Show since it opened its doors in 1987, now sits squarely in the center of the incredible new west side. The NewWest Side Hudson Yards, a decade in the making, is the largest private real estate development ever built in the U.S., and has fast become the cultural center of Manhattan’s new west side. Hudson Yards is New York’s newest neighborhood and home to more than 100 diverse retail shops and culinary experiences, offices for leaders in industry, significant public art and dynamic cultural institutions including The Shed, modern residences, 14 acres of public plazas, gardens and groves and the world’s first Equinox Hotel®. The Vessel The extraordinary centerpiece of Hudson Yards is its spiral staircase, a soaring new landmark meant to be climbed. Expanded show floor After the renovation, the Level 3 show floor will feature 500,000 square feet of contiguous exhibition space, allowing greater flexibility and space. Special event space An ultra-modern 53,000 sq. ft. special event space is being constructed, the largest of its kind in the Northeast. With incredible views of the Hudson River, the space will accommodate up to 6,000 guests for any special occasion. New truck marshalling facility A four-level truck garage will house more than 200 tractor-trailer trucks simultaneously and include 27 new loading docks. The garage will contribute to a 50% reduction in truck trips, resulting in a major improvement in air quality and traffic flow.
