I am genuinely honored to have been elected as the Chairman of the Board for the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association, an association that has represented the interest of franchised new car dealers for more than 110 years. As a long-standing GNYADA Member, I know of no other Association in the country that understands the needs of its members - and works with them to provide the tools needed to prosper - better than GNYADA. I look forward, as your new Chairman, to continuing this fine tradition while striving to develop and maintain programs that will assist you in running your dealership. With that, I am proud to present you with the 2021 Membership Directory and Services Guide. It contains an immeasurable amount of information that really can save you considerable time and money. The size and scope of its contents reminds me of the incredible complex nature of running a new car dealership, and how reassuring it is for all of us to have a resource like GNYADA working so tirelessly for us. One of the critical ways that GNYADA advocates for the interests of franchised new car dealers is by educating the public on the value our members bring to their customers and their communities. We do this by communicating our message in the news media, appealing directly to large audiences, which includes elected officials and other decision makers, as well as potential customers and influencers. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, GNYADA once again enjoyed a very successful year delivering the positive message that our dealers were open for business and remained a vital engine of local economies throughout downstate New York. As the pandemic shuttered businesses, we were able to get the word out that dealerships had been declared essential businesses, first for service departments and later for remote and then in-person sales and leasing. GNYADA Association leadership and member dealers spoke to the media countless times to demonstrate that we are open and safe, providing vital customer services. Our work with the news media resulted in stories highlighting safety protocols at dealerships and the dedication to ensuring that customers were able to test drive and purchase cars while adhering to all relevant health guidelines. When we released our 2020 Economic Impact Study, GNYADA President Mark Schienberg spoke to the press throughout downstate NewYork and authored an opinion editorial that was published in newspapers throughout the Hudson Valley spotlighting data that dealers support more than 70,000 jobs and generate over $53 billion dollars each year in economic activity.

WHAT WE DO

GNYADA works to protect franchise laws, and keep dealers informed of important, ever- changing issues, trends, and legislation within the retail new vehicle marketplace. In addition to advocating for pro dealer legislation, the Association provides dealers with compliance guidance, industry related communications, educational programs, invitations to association events, access to members-only offers, as well as many other benefits that support the needs of our members.

ABOUT GNYADA 2021 MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY & SERVICES GUIDE Advocacy

GNYADA works to protect and promote franchised auto dealerships’ interests before local, state, and federal legislators. The Association supports and opposes hundreds of bills each year, conducts dozens of meetings with state and local legislators to advocate for changes that help your business and fight those that are detrimental to dealers. The Association promotes e orts that a ect the automotive retail industry, including matters such as franchise law protections, auto finance, tax issues, recalls, advertising regulations, and broker issues. Education & Training GNYADA updates and expands its education and training programs every year to reflect the latest advances in the field, providing dealership employees with the specific skills and knowledge required to do business in the current marketplace and data-driven economy. Our programs train automotive professionals to improve operations, become more profitable and help realize job potential.

Dealer Services GNYADA’s Dealer Hotline provides dealers with fast answers to questions about tax laws, employment matters and other dealer inquiries. GNYADA’s Field Service Reps and staff visit member dealerships at least twice a year. During visits, members stock up on complimentary compliance signs, forms, and other useful items. They will also perform a walk-through of the dealership, and inform dealers of potential EPA, OSHA, and Privacy Act violations. Compliance GNYADA is recognized by franchised new car dealers from across the greater New York area as a trusted resource for Dealership Compliance solutions. GNYADA o ers educational seminars, informational brochures, compliance guides, and expert advice on all compliance topics. GNYADA’s Center for Automotive Education & Training is dedicated to serving automobile retailers in all areas of dealership operations in partnership with vehicle manufacturers and industry suppliers. Our mission is to support and promote ongoing automotive education and training and to help recruit individuals looking for careers in the auto industry in the metro New York area. GNYADA hosts over 100 courses and seminars a year to help dealership employees stay at the top of their game and to continue to grow within the dealership. Our Atrium offers one of the most remarkable spaces in Queens which has been featured in countless movies and TV shows. Some shows include, Madam Secretary, The Blacklist and most recently FBI on CBS. We have also hosted the one and only Beyonce for a Vizio commercial.

ABOUT GNYADA 2021 MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY & SERVICES GUIDE From what our research tells us, we know that about 80% of attendees are in the market for a new vehicle. In 2019, 72% of attendees planned to purchase a new vehicle within 12 months.

The Driving Force for Vehicle Sales Showcasing new vehicles to automobile buyers in a uniquely exciting atmosphere has been at the heart of the New York Auto Show for 121 years. It is quite literally the only place where buyers can see what the industry has to offer in one place, at one time, and as a result, generations of NewYorkers, your customers, have learned about and explored the latest new cars and trucks available to them from your dealership. The Auto Show is a place where attendees enjoy themselves, receive helpful information, and can narrow, and finalize their vehicle decision. For many, the Auto Show is a major first step in the journey of buying or leasing a new vehicle. What makes the Show so important to your dealership?

People are paying for a ticket with their own hard-earnedmoney to come inside the Auto Show and spend almost 5 hours of their day learning about your products. There is no other event or marketing channel supplying this volume of in-market auto shoppers to your dealership’s door. After attending the New York Auto Show, buyers often expand their choices before visiting local dealerships. In 2019, 36% of the Show’s 12-month intenders added brands to their consideration because of the show.

DEALER HOTLINE

GNYADA’s Dealer Hotline handles inquiries that cover a wide variety of topics. Questions range from ”Is my dealership required to disclose the prior use of a vehicle?” to “Can my customer export this car to a foreign country?”to “Is the Doc Fee taxable?” The Association offers help with OSHA regulations, DMV requirements, Red Flags Rule policies, as well as hundreds of other topics. Most often, members’ issues are resolved immediately. However, if the problem is more complex, Association staff conducts research in-house or reaches out to experts or the appropriate agencies. No matter what the issues are, we’ll be sure to get you the assistance you need.

Education and Training Programs The Association has been offering cost effective quality training programs to members for more than 30 years. GNYADA’s education programs cover every aspect of dealership operations. The Association continually adds new seminars and webinars to address current issues dealers face. Existing programs are continuously evaluated and updated to reflect the changes taking place in our Field Services GNYADA’s Field Services team keeps dealers aware of current and pending issues. Our Field Reps cover the full breadth of our territories, from out on Eastern Long Island, all the way up to Dutchess, Orange, and Putnam counties. Dealership Compliance Dealers face multiple state, local and federal laws regulating their dealerships. Even keeping proper records can be a challenge. Over the years, GNYADA has offered dealers compliance solutions through seminars, webinars and workshops in addition to providing other hands-on reference compliance materials. GNYADA gathers industry specialists to hold educational seminars that help members comply with often complicated regulations affecting every aspect of dealership operations. law. GNYADA also hosts special programs for dealers in their region. GNYADA added a new member to its Compliance team, former NYS DMV Deputy Commissioner for Compliance, Thomas Higgins. Tom brings in-depth knowledge of DMV regulations and provides dealers with a unique perspective on DMV enforcement efforts. Having led the VERIFI transition program for DMV, Tom is available to address any issue dealers may have with use of the VERIFI system. Tom will also be available to meet

Government Relations - Advocacy for Franchised New Car Dealers

GNYADA understands that compliance with the laws and regulations for operating new car dealerships in the New York metropolitan area are challenging. The Association forges relationships with lawmakers and government agencies to help shape the marketplace for members. GNYADA’s Government Relations staff actively follows what’s happening in the halls of government, supporting legislation that will help dealers and opposing any laws that would hinder or constrain dealership operations.

IN THE PAST YEAR ALONE, GNYADA HAS:

Aggressively advocated for upholding the Franchise Law by strongly opposing exceptions to the law for luxury electric car manufacturers to sell directly to consumers. Supported legislation to level the playing field by amending the rules for brokers and leasing companies to be regulated like dealers are, in order to operate in this state. These amendments would simultaneously protect consumers and dealers’significant investments in communities throughout the area. Continued to seek improvements for dealers’day-to-day operations through regular meetings with the Department of Motor Vehicles and other regulatory agencies. Ongoing advocacy for a fairer Doc Fee and doubling the 5-Day Rule for partner dealers , requesting and receiving more funds for the Drive Clean Rebate are examples of recent successes. Intervening on behalf of New York City dealers in Queens, GNYADA was able to ensure dealers will retain customer parking spaces and will continue to advocate on behalf of all New York City members. GNYADA has a strong presence in Albany. Staff works closely with franchise law consultants along with Albany and New York City lobbying firms to effectively advocate for dealer reforms and prevent harmful legislation from being enacted. In order to create more success stories like those listed above, it’s crucial to support political candidates who understand the needs of businesses in New York State and who are willing to listen to dealers’ideas and proposals. Through AmTrust, a dividend is also available; dividend payouts for GNYADA members in the AmTrust Safety Group could be as high as 40% (based on a group loss ratio of 15% or less). DBL GNYADA offers an enhanced DBL program. With this program, dealers can offer employees’ the benefit of either 50% of average weekly wages for 26 weeks or 60% for 52 weeks. Employees have a choice of maximum weekly benefits ranging from $170 to $850 per week. Voluntary Benefits These plans are individual but are offered through a group plan. They are normally paid 100% by the employee. Most can be on a pretax basis. They are: • Specific Disease – This coverage — for cancer, for example — helps pay for both medical and non-medical expenses. • Short-Term Disability – Pays for expenses while the employee is unable to work. • Accident – Benefits depend on the type of accident. • Hospital Confinement – This protects against out of pocket expenses, such as, deductibles and copays, which are associated with a hospital stay. • Life Insurance (Term or Universal) – Term is the least expensive type of Life Insurance; Universal is more costly but builds up cash value. You decide which one meets your needs. Long-Term Care Provides assistance when an individual can no longer perform the activities of daily living. Benefits can be received as an inpatient or at home.
