NOTE: Themetro area new vehiclemarket is off to a great start in 2016. Despite some concerns that the market might be poised to cool off, reported registrations have remained red-hot. It’s unlikely that the market will maintain this pace for the remainder of the year, however the annual outlook has improved since the last release. Auto Outlook now believes there’s a good chance that metro area registrations for all of 2016 could exceed 610,000 units (see page 2).
1. Metro area new vehicle market increased an estimated 2% in April of 2016 versus a year earlier. 2. Metro area market was up 8.1% during the first four months of this year, stronger than the 3% improvement in the nation. 3. Light truck market share reached 59.7% thru April of this year, up 3.6 points versus a year earlier. 4. Ram , Chevrolet , Kia , Jeep , Mazda , and Nissan registratio ns were up by more than 10% so far this year. 5. Metro area used vehicle market increased 6% during the first three months of this year.

HOW DATA IS COMPILED All data represents retail vehicle registrations in the twelve-county New York metro area and excludes fleet and wholesale transactions. April 2016 figures were estimated by Auto Outlook based on recent trends in the metro area market, seasonal factors, and results in the national market. Please keep in mind that monthly registration figures can occasionally be subject to fluctuations, resulting in over- or underestimation of actual results. This usually occurs due to processing delays by governmental agencies. For this reason, the year-to-date figures will typically be more reflective of market results. For year-to-date figures, the most recent month (April) is estimated and previous months are actual.
