A walking-working surface is any horizontal or vertical surface on or through which an employee walks, works, or gains access to a work area. Walking-working surfaces must be maintained free of hazards such as sharp or protruding objects, loose boards, corrosion, leaks, spills, snow, and ice. The employer must ensure that each walking-working surface can support the maximum intended load for that surface.

PPE (EYE AND FACE PROTECTION) Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including PPE for eyes, face, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields, if needed, shall be provided, used, and maintained by dealers wherever hazards of processes or environment such as chemical, mechanical or radiological hazards, or irritants, are capable of causing injury or impairment.

OSH ACT GENERAL DUTY CLAUSE Dealers are obligated to provide employees a place of employment which is free from recognized hazards that are causing or are likely to cause death or serious physical harm to their employees. In addition to these violations, regulators will continue to audit your dealership for working fire extinguishers. Fire extinguishers must be operational, accessible and receive monthly maintenance checks, with the latest inspection date noted on the tag attached to each extinguisher. Red and white “Fire Extinguisher”signs must be positioned on walls above each extinguisher. Train employees on proper use of fire extinguishers. Other requirements include having adequate first aid supplies if there is no hospital, clinic, or infirmary nearby. Contact the Dealer Hotline if you have any questions relating to OSHA compliance.
