NO HAZARD COMMUNICATION (HAZCOM) PLAN

Dealers must have a written HAZCOM plan, maintain training logs, and inform employees about the safety of any chemicals at the dealership including everything from antifreeze to drums of motor oil. Employees must be trained to know how to respond to incidents of exposure and which protective measures are required for each task.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION Employees at risk of breathing air contaminates must be trained in respirator usage. A written program must be developed, and it must be updated if workplace conditions affecting air contaminants or ventilation change.
MACHINE GUARDING (GENERAL REQUIREMENTS) Safeguards are essential for protecting workers from these preventable injuries. Any machine part, function, or process that may cause injury must be safeguarded.

Circuit breakers and outlets should be covered, and electrical panels should be kept clear. Outlets should not be overloaded (more plugs than designed to hold). All electrical and extension cords should be in good working condition.
MACHINE GUARDING (ABRASIVE WHEEL MACHINERY)

This violation has moved up three places since last year. The rule is for the wheel’s maximum opening to be set at 1/8-inch. Any adjustments to widen or increase that exposure area is a violation. When operating the wheel, eye protection must be worn.
