The 2014 Social Security book- let covers changes to the social security program and provides answers to commonly asked questions. The FICA tax rate for increase of 2013 remains in effect in 2014. Employers will continue to with- hold 7.65% (6.2% Social Security Tax and 1.45% Medicare Tax) from employees’ wages. Under the Affordable Care Act high-income employees (earning in excess of $200,000) must have an additional 0.9% (Medicare Tax) withheld from wages. Employers and employees will each pay 7.65% on wages up to $117,000.
